Inclusive quality education for all: This year’s theme for World Autism Day

April 2 is observed as World Autism Awareness Day to promote and educate people about autism spectrum disease (ASD). The World Autism Awareness Day was declared by United Nations on December 18, 2007.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) being a developmental disability results in significant social, communication and behavioral problems. Even though the exact causes are unknown, most experts believe that environmental, biologic, and genetic variables play a role in the development of ASD. Certain genetic or chromosomal conditions, such as fragile X syndrome or tuberous sclerosis, certain medication used during pregnancy, children born to older parents’ increases the risk of having ASD.

Current treatments for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) include one or more approaches such as behavioral, developmental, educational, social-relational, pharmacological, psychological, and complementary & alternative remedies to reduce symptoms and enhance the quality of life.

The theme of World Autistic Awareness Day 2022 is "Inclusive Quality Education for All," emphasizing the crucial relevance of education for people on the autism spectrum in fulfilling their full potential and attaining long-term employment success. (Merazone.com. National Today, CDC)
